NASA astronaut Scott Parazinsky, has been dropped from cosmonaut training at Russia's Star City because, at 1.87m, he is too tall to fit safely into a Soyuz spacecraft in which, in an emergency, he would have to ride during his planned 143-day flight aboard the Mir 1, after launch on the Space Shuttle STS84 in August 1997. A replacement for Parazinsky, who was to have flown the fourth and final NASA visiting mission to the Mir, has not be chosen.
