British Aerospace has agreed to buy Ansett's 50% stake in the A$80 million ($63.5 million) Australian Air Academy at Tamworth, New South Wales. BAe, which has shared ownership in the centre with Ansett since its launch, says that the move is part of its strategy to develop British Aerospace Australia in sustainable areas. For Ansett, the sale is part of a campaign to sell off non-core assets.
