A high ranking Turkish army delegation has visited Russia to review the Kamov/Israeli Aircraft Industries (IAI) Ka-50-2 Erdogan. The co-axial-rotor attack helicopter is a contender in the Turkish army competition to provide 145 machines.
Kamov has been forced to redesign its side-by-side Ka-52 attack helicopter to meet Turkey's requirement for a tandem-seat machine which offers a smaller frontal area. Other changes include Israeli avionics and a French cannon.
The Turkish delegation also visited the Progress plant in Arsenyev, where Kamov Ka-50s are being made. Final offers were delivered by Agusta (A129), Bell (AH-1), Boeing (AH-64), Eurocopter (Tiger) and Kamov/IAIs at the end of last month.
