The US Navy has conducted the first guided free-flight test of the Texas Instruments Joint Stand Off Weapon (JSOW). The test flight was used to demonstrate separation under autopilot control and wing deployment, says Texas Instruments.

It was the first controlled JSOW flight in the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the programme. Fifteen previous EMD JSOW flights were used to release unguided JSOWs to demonstrate safe jettison in various flight conditions.

The AGM-154A JSOW was launched from a McDonnell Douglas F-18C.
