Boeing is delivering a data and risk management tool to US Air Force Air Combat Command squadrons.
The Squadron Assistance/Risk Assessment (SARA) software was developed originally in rapid response to a US Marine Corps call to help reduce its AV-8B losses.
The PC-based system automates many of the squadron scheduling and data management tasks, but also allows commanders to assess the risks attached to missions. Using crew qualification and other data, the system calculates the risk associated with sending a particular crewmember on a particular mission. Boeing says the software allows the commander to build a risk model by tailoring the parameters that are monitored automatically, and the weighting assigned to each.
