VISIONAIRE SAYS that it received orders for four Vantage single-engined business jets at the European Business Air Show in the UK in May. The agreements take the company's orderbook to over 60 aircraft.
The orders were placed by buyers in Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK. The St Louis, Missouri-based company already held orders from five international customers. VisionAire says that its firm-order backlog is approaching $100 million.
A proof-of-concept Vantage is being flight-tested at Scaled Composites and four aircraft are being built for the certification-test programme. Two will be flight-tested by VisionAire beginning in April 1998, and two will be used for ground tests by airframe supplier Scaled Technology Works.
US certification and first deliveries are scheduled for 1999.
