Airbus has officially opened a second final assembly line in Tianjin for A320-family jets.

The new final assembly line is the airframer’s 10th in its global A320-family production network. Airbus also has four lines in Hamburg, two in Toulouse, as well as two in Mobile in the USA.

Full operation of the facility is targeted for early 2026, amid preparations to induct the first aircraft for final assembly.

Tianjin assembly line will contribute to Airbus’s output goal of 75 A320neo jets per month in 2027

Airbus expects the addition of the second line in Tianjin to “significantly increase production” for its narrowbody family and to achieve its target output of 75 A320-family jets per month in 2027.

“The advanced second line [in Tianjin] features Airbus’ latest technologies and processes to produce aircraft worldwide at the same high standards,” states Airbus.

Plans for a second final assembly line in Tianjin were first announced in 2023 on the sidelines of a state visit by French prime minister Emmanuel Macron.

Airbus’s first line in Tianjin began operations in 2008 and was the airframer’s first final assembly line outside of Europe. To date, Airbus has assembled over 780 A320-family aircraft at the Chinese plant.
