China is being offered Russia's latest-generation Kh-31PK air-to-surface missile (ASM) and a passive homing variant of the R-27 long-range air-to-air missile to equip the country's Sukhoi Su-27/30 fighters, writes Vladimir Karnozov in Zhuhai.

Confirming the offer at Airshow China, Boris Obnosov, general director of Russia's Tactical Missile Corporation, said the organisation had secured a licence from Moscow to sell spare parts for weapons already supplied as part of the strike aircraft package.

China has already acquired earlier versions of the Kh-31 and Kh-59 ASM and the RVV-AE air-to-air missile from Russia. It is also negotiating the supply of monitoring systems and repair equipment for the current weapons, says Obnosov.
