CHC Helicopter’s Brazilian unit has won five new offshore support contracts with energy firm Petrobras that will see the expansion of its rotorcraft fleet in the South American country.

Covering transport of passengers and goods to facilities in the Campos Basin, CHC do Brasil will service the contracts with a fleet of five Leonardo Helicopters AW139 intermediate-twins.

Contract will be serviced with fleet of five AW139s

CHC says the helicopters will be a combination of fleet additions and those in its existing inventory. They will be located at bases in Campos dos Goytacazes, near Rio do Janiero, and Bartolomeu Lisandro and Eurico de Aguiar Salles airports in Campos and Vitoria, respectively. The additions will take to 10 its Brazil-based rotorcraft fleet.

Work on the contracts – which will run for between four and five years – will commence in the second half of 2023.

CHC says it has “significant long-term growth plans” for Latin America. It already has operations in Brazil and Mexico, having previously also operated in Suriname and Uruguay.
