Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first two of six H145 medium-twins to Swiss rescue and emergency medical services provider Rega.

The 3.7t rotorcraft will replace the operator's fleet of legacy EC145s, which will be phased out by mid-2019.

Rega expects to deploy the first H145, powered by twin Safran Helicopter Engines Arriel 2Es, from its Bern base in October.

“The H145 represents a continuation of our success story and ensures that we can continue to provide our patients with reliable and professional help in the years to come,” says Ernst Kohler, chief executive of Rega.

In addition to the H145s, Rega is also acquiring three Leonardo Helicopters AW169 medium-twins from 2021; these will be configured for all-weather operations.
