The question ‘is there a doctor in the house?' is about to take on new meaning for Learjet operators. Learjet crew will have a direct line to emergency professional medical advice following the announcement by manufacturer Bombardier that it is to install the MedLink aviation medical support system on all Learjet-31A, -45 and -60 aircraft purchased after 1 July.
The system has been well received by operators of the larger Challenger 604 and Global Express business jets. The service is provided by MedAire, which counts nearly 40 airlines as clients.
In the event of an emergency, Learjet crew can consult directly with board-certified physicians on any medical incident. MedAire will also coordinate ground-based medical response and provide flight crew with aviation-specific medical management training.
Announcing the development at the show, David Orcutt, vice-president and general manager Bombardier Aerospace, Business Aircraft said: "We take great pride in providing our customers with peace of mind, knowing they are on aircraft that meet the highest standards of care."
