Canadian discounter WestJet will relaunch season flights between Hamilton, Ontario and Las Vegas on 29 December after a six-year hiatus.

The Calgary-based airline will operate twice weekly on the route through 27 April 2018, using Boeing 737s, WestJet says.

The airline previously operated the Hamilton-Las Vegas route twice weekly for three months in late 2011, according to FlightGlobal schedules data.

Though WestJet faces no current competition between Hamilton and Las Vegas, the route is among those being considered by upstart Jetlines, according to a map of that company's planned routes.

Jetlines hopes to get off the ground in 2018 and has targeted Hamilton as among cities from where it will base operations, the company has said.
