Fixed-based operator Cutter Aviation is marking nearly 90 years in business by giving away at NBAA a classic motorcycle and sidecar.

The rig is brand new, but looks every bit an authentic 1930s design, resembling the bike Steve McQueen hurls over high fences in the film The Great Escape.

McQueen's bike was actually a British-made Triumph made to resemble the BMWs used by the German Army.

Cutter's bike is even more realistic. It’s a 2017 Gear Up Sahara made by Russia's Ural Motorcycles, which owns the rights to produce 1930s-era BMW bikes.

Furthering the 1930s theme, actors portraying Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart will be at Cutter's display and will be available for pictures with visitors, says Cutter director of special projects Mike Livezey.

Visitors can take photos with the daring duo, and have those pictures printed on badges.

William P Cutter founded Cutter Flying Service in 1928 in Albuquerque. The company still has operations there, but is now based in Phoenix and has operations in Colorado Springs.

Cutter has fixed-base operations, provides maintenance, operates charters and sells HondaJets, Piper Aircraft and Daher TBMs, Livezey says.

As for the motorbike giveaway, just write your name on a card to enter. Cutter will draw names at 3:30pm tomorrow, but the winner must be present to take the prize, Livezey says.
