Germania is to lease a fourth Airbus A321 for its summer 2014 schedule.

The Berlin-based leisure carrier owns two A321s, which were delivered earlier this year, and has already disclosed plans to wet-lease, from April, a third aircraft of the type, which will be used exclusively for tour operator Alltours in the holiday company’s own livery. Now, Germania says it will add another leased A321 to its fleet in April.

At 23 aircraft, the airline's fleet for the summer season will be its largest since it was founded in 1979, it says. Capacity will be up around 37% on the same period last year.

Aside from the two A321s, Germania’s current fleet comprises 10 Boeing 737-700s and nine A319s.

Two A321s will be stationed at Dusseldorf – one of them the Alltours aircraft – while the other two A321s are to be based at Frankfurt and Bremen.

The airline says it will also station for the first time an aircraft at Norwich airport in the UK, where it also operates from Manchester and London Gatwick.
