MBDA has completed a redesign of the fin configuration of its Meteor beyond visual-range air-to-air missile to enable easier integration with the UK’s future Lockheed Martin F-35B Joint Strike Fighters, the company says. The change will enable the short take-off and vertical landing aircraft to carry one Meteor in each of its two internal weapon bays. The first test firing of a Meteor missile will take place in Sweden later this year using a Saab JAS39 Gripen fighter.
