SR Technics America has secured two new contracts following the opening of a maintenance operation at Palm-dale, California, earlier this year (Flight International, 3-9 April).
Continental Airlines Boeing 737-800s are to be fitted with additional in-flight entertainment equipment and will undergo a light maintenance check. Up to 20 aircraft will be upgraded this year, and possibly double that number next year.
SR Technics' second success is the landing of a deal with FedEx Express to undertake a C-check on its McDonnell DouglasDC-10s. The first of eight aircraft this year is due in the hangar on 1 June.
The company, which is part of the Swissair Group, opened for business on 22 March with a contract to convert 57 DC-10s to two crew MD-10 standard for FedEx. It plans to open a second conversion line in September.
