Toyon Research (booth 1041) hopes to address the tricky issues of tracking moving targets with small UAVs.

Geamus Collins, senior analyst at the company, says the performance and gimble limitation of small, hand-launched UAVs can make tracking moving vehicles difficult for an operator.

Toyon's video processing software resides on the operator's computer. It allows a small UAV to automatically track targets. It also smoothes the video image (small UAVs are prone to buffeting), and helps the UAV reacquire the target should it move beyond the UAV's field of vision.

The software can account to the UAV's sensor layout, such as UAV's that have only side-facing sensors.
