Operation of the Dassault Falcon 2000 business jet at London City Airport has been approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. London City's 5.5¡ approach, 1,200m (4,000ft) runway and noise restrictions require special approval procedures (Flight International, 7-13 February).

Dassault says that it has demonstrated glideslopes as steep as 6.65¡ using the Falcon 2000's flight spoilers on final approach, performing a series of take-offs and landings using special procedures developed for London City and demonstrating compliance with the airport's noise limits.

The French manufacturer says that the Falcon 2000 has a non-stop range with eight passengers from City of 2,400km (1,300nm), sufficient to reach any destination in Europe. Dassault is now seeking approval for operation of the longer-range Falcon 900 tri-jet from London City. The Falcon 10/100 is already cleared.
