The Israeli police are studying Elbit Systems’ Hermes 450 unmanned air vehicle to monitor traffic on main roads. A pilot trial is using direct transmissions of images from the UAV to screens in traffic police cars. The pilot began on 14 September and is due to last several weeks. The Hermes 450 is equipped with an Elop Compass stabilised surveillance system with four electro-optic sensors.
