Israel has signed a letter of offer and acceptance with the US Government for 52 Lockheed MartinF-16Is, converting options taken when it ordered 50 fighters in January last year. Lockheed Martin says the deal is worth $2 billion, with the aircraft element priced at $1.3 billion. The aircraft will be powered by Pratt &Whitney F100-229 engines and equipped with Israeli-built systems.
