Boeing has begun final assembly of the third MD-95 test airframe, called the T-3, with the fuselage barrel mated to the wing on 24 November. The first MD-95 is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, with a first flight due to take place in early 1998. Deliveries of the MD-95-30 are pencilled in to begin in June 1999 to launch customer AirTran Airlines. The airline has 50 firm orders and 50 options on the aircraft.
