American Airlines, of Fort Worth, Texas, has appointed Michael Smith managing director of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, based at London Heathrow Airport, UK. Smith, who is now managing director of western-division sales, replaces Peter Bowler, who is to return to Fort Worth as managing director of reservations.
