CFE, a joint venture between AlliedSignal and General Electric, is studying the potential market for its CFE738 turbofan as a power plant for sub-50-seat regional jets.

AlliedSignal and GE revealed earlier this year that they are investigating the economic feasibility of such an aircraft, although the former company could also offer its LF507 or AS908 power plants, while the latter manufacturer could offer the CF34.

The CFE738 is also one of the candidates in the competition to power Fairchild Dornier's proposed 328-300. The engine entered service in 1995 on the Dassault Aviation Falcon 2000 business jet.
