The USA and China have agreed to enter into informal consultations aimed at expanding the US-China aviation bilateral. The current pact restricts the number of carriers serving the market, and was last modified in 1995. It limits to three the number of airlines from each country which can serve the market. The number of routes is restricted, and scheduled weekly flights for each nation's carriers limited to 27.
