Former British Airways executive John Hanlon has been named secretary general of the European Low Fares Airline Association, taking over from Jan Skeels who helped launch the association in 2004.

Hanlon, who worked for 29 years with BA in overseas management positions, was most recently director alliances at ELFAA member flybe. He joined the UK low-fares carrier in 2000.

"ELFAA has become a voice of influence and secured a place at the table where most aviation issues are debated," says Hanlon. It is vital for ELFAA to seek to proactively influence developments on a wide range of fronts, he says.
