Taiwanese airlines have begun regular flights through Chinese airspace in another easing of relations between the political rivals. China Airlines (CAL) on 5 September became the first Taiwanese airline to operate regular flights through Chinese airspace. CAL says flights through Chinese airspace will help it cut flying times to the Middle East, Europe and within Asia.
