Australian air traffic services provider Airservices Australia has formed a partnership with Honeywell to develop and commercialise satellite-based landing systems. The alliance is the second industry partnership formed by Airservices in as many months, with the service provider teaming up with Sita to provide automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast services.

The latest partnership will see the development of software and commercialisation of a ground-based augmentation system (GBAS) and a ground-based regional augmentation system (GRAS). GBAS will replace instrument landing systems at major airports, while GRAS will provide regional coverage for smaller aircraft.
