Singapore-based lessor Avation is looking to place the additional five ATR 72-600s it has ordered in Asia-Pacific and Europe when they are delivered in 2017 and 2018.
Speaking at the Singapore air show after signing the new order, Avation’s executive chairman Jeff Chatfield says that the lessor will look to place the aircraft with both existing and new customers in the two regions.
“Our company is interested in Asia-Pacific and Europe. We’re not equipped to operate in Latin America or other regions,” he adds.
He also noted that the lessor is not actively seeking further growth in North America due to the higher level of competition with other lessors that already have a strong presence there.
In Asia-Pacific, Avation has ATRs leased to carriers including Virgin Australia, Air India Regional and Uni Airways, while in Europe it has FlyBe as an operator.
Chatfield adds that the company is confident that the schedule of delivery of the aircraft is appropriate.
“Our view of the market is that our orders are appropriately sized for those years,” he says.
