Aeroflot-Russian International Airlines (ARIA) has lost its general director, Marshal Evgeny Shaposhnikov, following his departure to become an advisor to Russian president Boris Yeltsin. The Aria board has appointed his deputy Valeri Okulov as an acting replacement pending an official decision. Okulov, who is Yeltsin's son-in-law, started his career as a flight navigator but became an Aria director in October 1995 after a coup, which ousted much of the previous management.
