Airservices Australia will launch a trial of flex tracks on flights between Australia and South-East Asia in June. The Australian Organised Track Structure trial is expected to save airlines more than A$5 million ($4 million) a year in reduced fuel consumption and result in lower emissions. The air traffic services provider will publish the routes daily, based on high-level wind forecasts for the most efficient flight operations. Flights from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to Singapore will benefit most from the trial.
