ITA Airways’ first Airbus A330-900 emerged from the hangar at the airframer’s final assembly line in Toulouse on 31 March.

Sporting the carrier’s distinctive blue livery, the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-powered A330neo is expected to join ITA Airways’ fleet in the summer.

The Alitalia successor has debuted three other Airbus types in its fleet over the past 12 months: its first A350-900 entered service in summer 2022, followed by its first A220-300 in October, then its first A320neo in February this year.

It is due to receive its first A220-100 later this year.

Talks are continuing between the Italian government and Lufthansa Group over the latter taking a stake in ITA, with the German company’s chief executive Carsten Spohr saying in recent days that he is positive about prospects of a deal being reached by the end of an exclusivity period on 24 April.
